FAQs Page
Can I get a sample?
You can purchase a small amount to use as a sample. We suggest using the site to purchase 1 SF of flat veneer stone, of whatever blend you're interested in, and we'll ship a few small pieces for you to see. Please call us first however, to discuss the project and blend(s) you have interest in. While we do occasionally sell and ship samples, we try to minimize the exercise, and often discussions can provide valuable insight, that often means a sample isn't required.
Where are you located?
This site is operated by Dave Hammond, Founder and CEO of ship2user, an ecommerce company that owns and operates a portfolio of online stores. ship2user main office is in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (address noted below). Stone fabrication and where product is shipped from, is a few hours West of Toronto, Canada. Most of the stone shown herein is Quarried from Northern Ontario.
Where can I see the stone?
If you're near London, ON, by appointment we can arrange to have you visit and see the facility. Or we can discuss a sample order, per comment above. In general, we operated remotely, and most of our business is online and over the phone.
Where do ship product to?
We ship throughout USA and Canada. If ship/boat/rail/other is required to reach the destination, we reserve the right and will need to do special freight quote.
How much is freight?
When you add to cart in this site, the site will price freight, up to 10x full loads. 1x full load is 23 tons of stone. Freight in general is expensive, and as a percentage of the deal, freight will be higher on smaller deals. We aim to slightly subsidize freight on all orders, and we provide transparency as far the cost for stone, and the cost to ship the product.
How long does it take?
Right now we're averaging about 6-8 weeks until ready to ship. Some orders get out the door a little faster (4-6 weeks), and occasionally we go a week or so past the 8 week mark. On average, 6-8 weeks before ship out. We try to under promise and over deliver and month to month, we adapt as we manage the workflow and lead times, with supply and demand variables that change over time.
Is this real stone?
Our name is the answer --- Natural Brick and Stone Depot. This is 100% real, from the ground, quarried, magnificent and beautiful natural stone.
Does this come in panels?
No. We don't pre-mount or prepare any sort of panel system. You will need to work with a Mason to install the individual pieces of stone. Similar to what a brick layer would do, but with extra and special attention, given this is natural stone, and does require a certain respect for the beauty and natural variations, from piece to piece. Every veteran stone mason, sees the art in their work, and is mindful of each piece that goes up. When hiring a mason, talk to them about natural stone.
Is there a warranty?
I suppose we could institute a 50 or 100 year warranty, but no. This stone has been around for millions of years, and will be around long past our time. Other variables will be of much greater importance, that are outside our control. For example, quality of mortar used to complete the installation, or the structural integrity of the back board for which the stone is mounted on, or the foundation or structure bearing the load. Natural stone itself can and will change over time, particularly if exposed to sunlight, and weather elements. Sun will naturally (however slight) alter all surfaces. Most stone types will fade over time under the sun, while sandstone for example, will turn more brown. Water/rain/snow/ice could ultimately lead to corrosion, but ever so slightly if at all, such that this isn't something to be concerned about. Integrity of our natural stone is one of the key advantages in using our product.
Can I return the product?
No and this has never happened. Before we do a deal, we talk and we work hard to ensure you know what you're getting, and the stone in question is the right fit for you. Moving stone is expensive, and so the cost to ship back would be onerous, and since each order is produced as needed, we don't stockpile or hold inventory. So taking back stone would be very problematic. In the event that we ever find ourselves in such a predicament, we do state in our policy that in special situations, arrangements for returned or cancelled product will require 25% re-stocking fee plus any/all transport costs associated with the transaction, if applicable.
